The Street Scent Dubai

The Street Scent Dubai is a Black owned fragrance house. Founded in 2023, inspired by the vibrant energy of cities and cultures around the world. The Street Scent as a concept was idealized by Asukwo Monday who had spent over 7 years working with LVMH Sephora Perfumes in France and the Middle East. His goal was to build a bridge between designers and niche fragrance by creating innovative scents that appeal to people from different background and making them accessible to everyone.

More so, it was his intention to design niche fragrances that are bold, creative, and expressive, taking inspiration from the fashion industry, culture, people, roots, memories, and places; designing each fragrance as an art piece.

”For me, fragrance is an art. It is not just about the smell or memories attached to it, but most importantly about self-expression, which is very noticeable in the fashion industry especially street style fashion. Each fragrance should embody how one feels when wearing it. With that in mind; I design fragrance to represent people, roots, culture and to tell stories with every collection. The Street Scent celebrates originality, freedom and the art of self-expression keeping true to its name.”

SugarHill

SugarHill is the official US distributor of The Street Scent products. It is a Black woman owned Business, located in Los Angeles. The name SugarHill is inspired by the historical Sugar Hill neighborhood in Los Angeles. It was a neighborhood that was once the center of Black wealth and the Black elite. Originally known as West Adams Heights, Sugar Hill was a hub for Black artists, activists, and entrepreneurs in the 1940s. The neighborhood was home to many influential Black figures, including Hattie McDaniel, the first Black woman to win an Oscar. The construction of the Santa Monica Freeway in the 1950s destroyed homes, displaced families, and destroyed the neighborhood's Black economy. Today, Sugar Hill is one of the lowest-income neighborhoods in Los Angeles, with a high rate of displacement and pollution. This name is for those who inspired a whole community and fought for themselves and others.
